GMSN Non-Traditional, Hospice, World Traveler

XXU is my first choice to study towards the MSN because I love the progressive aspects of your curriculum which mirror the creativity and sense of promise in diversity and humanity that generally characterizes the Bay Area. My academic work ethic is high as is demonstrated by my undergrad GPA of 3.7. Most of all, however, I have demonstrated my capacity by maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout all the pre-requisite courses necessary to enter your program--while simultaneously working and taking care of a new born baby.

A non-traditional graduate student at 43, I seek to bring a lot of multicultural experience to your program along with a solid background in volunteer health care activities. I lived for 2 years in Germany as a child, spent 1 year in Sydney, Australia as a High School student, 1 year in Mexico City taking college classes in Spanish, and 1 year each teaching English in Japan and Chile; I have also spent extensive periods of time in Thailand and Indonesia and traveled through France, England, Holland, Ireland, Cuba, and New Zealand. These experiences have helped me to become a professional who is adept at working with patients from all over the world. I especially look forward to working with those patients who prefer Spanish as their mode of communication, something that is very much needed here in California.

Completing your distinguished GMSN program will prepare me for making the greatest contribution to my field that I possibly can, helping hospice patients to transition from this life in a peaceful and compassionate manner. I really want to work my way up to the forefront of the movement to steer medical care away from an exclusively drug and intervention model. I am very excited about the fact that trust and touch are proving to be equally as important as strong pharmaceuticals. I stay very much abreast of the fascinating research being done on this subject and I stay focused on the role of the nurse in these debates.

For the last decade, I have given a big piece of myself to the Bay Area’s XXXX organization, volunteering in many areas, from packaging new syringes for SF Aids Foundation to distribute, to preparing meals for families with very sick children at XXXX Medical Center. I help with childcare for homeless families at the Salvation Army House and prepare meals for homebound patients with Project Open Hand. I also help teach autistic children at the YMCA. Most recently, I have been volunteering as a massage therapist at a cancer clinic for low-income women. My volunteer work has helped to provide me with focus for graduate school: how desperately patients crave touch for healing. Massage is now by far the most requested therapy at our clinic. I also do massage for Hospice and one of my clients is 96 years old and getting better. Thus, I am confident that my background as a massage therapist will help me to excel as a progressive nursing professional.

I have spent many years investigating what makes a Statement or Letter of Intent for admission to Nursing School as effective as possible, what programs and institutions in the area of nursing are looking for in applicants: specific qualities, interests, and characteristics--all of which I will emphasize in your essay. Character is especially critical and I am an expert at making you look exceptional. It is all in the wording and I like to think I have a natural gift for statement expression. My own special strength is in the emotional eloquence of nursing. I admit that on a few occasions, tears well up in my eyes while writing a statement for nursing school; it is a most enriching experience and I count myself most privileged.

Working together as a team we strive to create the best personal statement possible, to give you an advantage over other applicants to Nursing School. I am an experienced professional who has read and edited thousands of  Personal Statements and Statements of Purpose. Most editing services only focus on the technical aspects of the statements: grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Instead, I consider the more important aspects; personal tone, flow, and content. Most importantly, I help you express your creative ideas with respect to your long term goals and your contribution to humanity and society. The final product of my editing may be the beginning of your professional success, a solid investment in your future.
